Pierre Bonnard- The French Post Impressionist and a Founder Member of Les Nabis

The French post-impressionist painter and printmaker Pierre Bonnard was a remarkable artist of mid nineteenth century. He was also the founding member of Les Nabis, the avant-garde group of France. Bonnard’s childhood was uneventful and he grew up to enter the University of Paris in 1896 to study law. But the events soon started turning over his life and only a year later he enrolled in a liberal Parisian art school, the Academie Julian. Around the same time his journey in the art world began to form a radical wave in the Parisian art scene as he met Paul Serusier, Mauris Denis, Henri Ibels, and Paul Ransom. Five of them, friends in their practice of arts in the nineteenth century and all of them with similar artistic inclination formed Les Nabis. They joined together to bring about radical changes in the approach of avant-garde post-impressionist painters. Pierre Bonnard’s paintings and printmaking artworks are available online.
